Retinal Diseases and Disorders
Vitreo-Retinal Associates focus offers a wide range of diseases and disorders of the retina. The most common of these include:
- Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) – is a chronic eye disease, causing visual loss in a patient's central vision. It is the leading cause of severe vision loss in people over the age of 60.
- Retinal Vein and Artery Occlusions – are common vascular retinal disorders and among the most common causes of blindness after diabetic retinopathy.
- Diabetic Retinopathy – is a complication of diabetes, caused by damage to the retina. It is the leading cause of blindness in people aged 25-74 years in the United States.
- Detached and Torn Retina – is a separation of the retina from the underlying tissue of the eye.
