Melvyn H. Defrin, MD
Melvyn H. Defrin is a renowned clinician and educator. He received his BS in electrical engineering from The City College, City University of New York, after which he completed his medical degree at The State University of NY at Stony Brook in 1975.
In 1979, he completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a fellowship in vitreo-retinal disease at the Vitreo-Retinal Research Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee in 1980. He is board certified in ophthalmology and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Retina Specialists and served as a Diplomat for the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is currently a Sub-Investigator for several national clinical trials on retinal disease.
In 1980, Dr. Defrin founded Vitreo-Retinal Associates, PC , specializing in clinical and in-office surgery for diseases of the retina, including diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, and age-related macular degeneration.
